In collaboration with Forever Sabah, we are proud to introduce Wagas Dati rice to our rice-loving community. Wagas Dati means ‘our rice’ in the Dusun-Tindal language, a community brand created by the communities in Tenghilan, Tuaran, Sabah.
Together, we’ll be able to support community farmers who are pursuing the path of sustainable farming. For the betterment of the people and the environment.
The Projek Padi Initiative
Wagas Dati's rice farmers are part of Forever Sabah’s Projek Padi initiative that began in 2020 during COVID-19, (when there was concern for food shortage) with the intention to revitalize idle paddy lands and empower communities to take control of their food security. The project rekindled the spirit and joy of rice planting and reduced reliance of on cheap commercial rice/rice imports.
Now, the project continues to work towards food sovereignty and enhancing local economies through exploring agri-tourism and more.
